Engineering Through Different Lenses


One distinct career extends far beyond its title and extends into numerous paths. The various types of engineering, such as chemical, civil, biomedical, electrical, etc, allow space for a career for everyone. With a rapidly expanding society with new structures and obstacles, the role of engineers is needed more than ever. An engineer fulfills the necessity of blending societies’ challenges with new constructions while also allowing room for modern enhancements. Innovation is the prime focus of all engineers, regardless of the specific field one is concerned with. Without engineers, the intricate designs and buildings that surround us would not accommodate the problems of today's society.












Chemical Engineering:

Chemical engineers are required to apply the sciences to solve problems and design processes for manufacturing and production. Some of their duties include conducting tests, research, and designing plans/layouts, with the combination of chemistry, biology, physics and math. More importantly, chemical engineers understand how the environment and humans are affected by manufacturing. These engineers typically work in offices or in laboratories to fulfill their duties. A designated career in chemical engineering requires a bachelor's degree and a surplus of experience. A license is not as common for chemical engineers; however, it does portray more knowledge.

Civil Engineering:

The primary role of a civil engineer is to create and design infrastructure that supports the necessities of today's society. Oftentimes, their workplace varies depending on the project they are working on and could even be outdoors to supervise construction sites. A bachelor's degree in civil engineering and a specific field within the career is necessary to obtain a job. License requirements are dependent upon location; however, a larger variety of jobs are available with a license. The exact roles of civil engineers are boundless and include designing transportation systems/structures, analyzing tests for building materials, submitting permit applications, considering construction costs, etc. There are several upgrades available following the job of a civil engineer such as a project or design manager, who holds more experience than an ordinary civil engineer.

Electrical Engineering:

Electrical engineers specialize in operating, designing, and manufacturing electrical equipment and systems for a variety of purposes. With knowledge about electrical power, electrical engineers can improve products, test equipment, evaluate systems, etc. Similarly to the other engineering professions, electrical engineers must have a bachelor's degree and actively participate in programs and jobs that enhance their knowledge for the workforce. Supervisory positions are available following the position of an electrical engineer.


Finding a Career:

The engineering field holds a spot for everyone’s interests and passions with a plethora of fields. The future of engineering is expanding alongside our society which is constantly growing.
