Contrary to popular belief, pre-med is not a major; instead, it refers to the set of courses a student must take to gain admission to medical school. The undergraduate school someone attends is a substantial factor for their med school application, but this school does not have to be one abounding in prestige or wealth. Instead, it should have an environment the student harmonizes with.

DREXEL UNIVERSITY

Drexel University is a private institution located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, established in 1891 with a slightly competitive acceptance rate. The University of Delaware, located in Newark, Delaware was established based on education, research, and service. Originally founded in 1743, this private academy has made a substantial, global impact. It has four other campus locations in addition to the main campus in Wilmington Dover, Lewes, and Georgetown, and it also has a study-abroad program with international influence. Overall, UD prides itself on educating its students to be role-model citizens. Students can take an early admission route or go through the BS/MD program with Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Pennsylvania.


CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY

Located in Cleveland, Ohio- Case Western Reserve University ranks 42nd in the United States and represents over 90 countries with its international connections. It was established in 1826 and its alumni are highly notable including the man who invented Gmail, a director of Marvel blockbusters, and the first female director of the CDC. By focusing on a commitment to innovation, it offers numerous scholarships as well as a BS/MD program allowing undergraduates direct access into medical school.



In conclusion, a college that holds prestige and prominence is not necessarily a better fit for you than a college with a welcoming environment and courses that adhere to your likings. When selecting a pre-med college, choose one that best represents what you want your college years to resemble.
